Are you thinking about attending college in the fall of 2025? Are you in need of help trying to navigate the financial aid process necessary to get money to help cover the cost of college?
Great news! During the month of January, the financial aid experts at SUNY Fulton-Montgomery Community College will get you the help you need.
December 1, 2024, is the projected date that you are able to start the financial aid process for the 2025-2026 academic year. This is when you are able to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) application, and apply for the Excelsior Scholarship (if available). FMCC will be hosting many different events to help you sort through all of the information, get what you need to file all of the applications and work hand in hand with you to file all the necessary paperwork.
The Financial Aid team will be going into all of the local high schools to help students and parents file the FAFSA, TAP and Excelsior scholarship (if available) applications. The dates are as follows:
January 7, 2025 Northville High School
January 8, 2025 Fort Plain High School
January 9, 2025 OESJ High School
January 13, 2025 Broadalbin-Perth High School
January 14, 2025 Galway High School
January 15, 2025 Mayfield High School
January 21, 2025 Gloversville High School
January 22, 2024 Fonda-Fultonville High School
January 27, 2025 Wells High School
January 28, 2025 Amsterdam High School
January 29, 2025 Johnstown High School
February 5, 2024 Canajoharie High School
All events will begin at 6:00 p.m.
At these events there will be a short presentation to cover sources, types and specific awards for federal, state and institutional financial aid. We will then move on to the computer to help students and parents file the forms necessary for your student to receive aid for the 2025-2026 academic year. If you plan to attend, please remember to bring your 2023 federal and state tax returns and W-2’s, social security numbers, dates of birth and a valid e-mail address.
Prior to the event, please visit studentaid.gov to establish your student aid account. You and at least one parent will need these accounts to sign the FAFSA. Keep in mind to use a personal email address, one that you will continue to use throughout your college experience. Do not use a school account.
Please plan on spending some time with us to get these forms filed early to get the best possible financial aid package for your child or yourself. If you have any questions, please contact the Financial Aid Office at 518-736-3622 ext. 8201 for assistance.
