    Refunds

When refunds of tuition charges are due as in the case of withdrawal or canceled classes, the Bursar’s Office will refund any amount due to the student. Refunds are processed 3-4 weeks after the start of the semester.

Students may be eligible to receive a refund from financial aid that occurs throughout each semester. A refund occurs when payments and credits on a student account exceed tuition, fees and other charges for a semester. The preferred method for receiving refunds is through direct deposit to the student’s checking account by the Bursar’s office.

    Certificate of Residency

Fulton and Montgomery County residents do not need to submit a Certificate of Residence to the Bursar’s Office, however, they are required to verify their address on the student self-service portal (MYFMCC) each academic semester. In order to qualify, you must prove you have lived in New York state for 12 months prior to registration and in the same county for at least six months. If you lived in more than one county in the past six months, you will need certificates from each county.

For New York State students who live outside Fulton and Montgomery Counties, you are required to submit a notarized Certificate of Residence from your home county’s treasury office. This is required to qualify for reduced in-state tuition and needs to be completed each year you are enrolled at SUNY FMCC.

    IRS Form 1098-T

The 1098-T is a record of the financial information reported by FMCC to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) on a student’s behalf as required by the Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997. The 1098-T is informational only and is mailed to the student’s home address by January 31st. The student must have a valid Social Security number on file. Please note, FMCC cannot provide tax advice. Students and/or parents should seek the advice of a tax preparer for specific questions concerning the 1098-T and tax return preparation.
