Fulton-Montgomery Community College invites students, faculty, and community members to attend “Reach New Heights: Our Journey Up Mount Kilimanjaro,” a presentation by Paula Brown-Weinstock (Professor of Psychology/Sociology) and Laurie Freeman (retired Biology Professor) about their incredible experience hiking Mount Kilimanjaro, the seventh-highest mountain in the world, located in Tanzania, Africa.
The presentation will take place on Tuesday, April 7, from 12:30 to 2:00 PM in the Rao Theatre at FMCC. During the event, Brown-Weinstock and Freeman will share the highs, challenges, and unforgettable moments of their journey to one of the world’s most iconic peaks—the “Roof of Africa.” They will discuss the physical and mental preparation and challenges of high-altitude trekking, the diverse landscapes encountered along the route, and the cultural and environmental experiences that made the expedition unforgettable.
In addition, they will share highlights from their safari adventures in Tanzania, where they encountered the Big Five and other remarkable wildlife while learning about the region’s unique ecosystems.
This presentation offers a unique opportunity to learn about one of the world’s most famous mountains while hearing firsthand about the perseverance, preparation, and teamwork required to reach the summit. Attendees will be transported to the slopes of Kilimanjaro and inspired to embrace adventures of their own—big or small.
All are welcome to attend.
