FMCC Raiders Relief Food Pantry has been selected as the July Hannaford Fight Hunger Bag Program beneficiary.

Hannaford Fight Hunger food bag benefits Raiders Relief Food Pantry

SUNY Fulton-Montgomery Community College (SUNY FMCC) is pleased to announce the Raiders Relief Food Pantry has once again been selected as a nonprofit partner in the Hannaford Fight Hunger Bag program. Raiders Relief Food Pantry will receive $1 for every $2.50 reusable Fight Hunger Bag sold during July at the Hannaford in Amsterdam, NY.

Store leadership at Hannaford’s Amsterdam location (115 Hannaford Plaza, 4901 State Highway) has previously selected SUNY FMCC's Raiders Relief Food Pantry to benefit from their Fight Hunger Bag program, most recently in January 2025 and October 2024. The program facilitates community support with the goal of making a difference in the areas where shoppers live and work. More than $1 million has been donated to over 1,400 hunger organizations since the program launched in April 2014. For more information, visit hannaford.2givelocal.com.

“With the increase of food prices along with the increase of food insecurity across our community, we can anticipate that supplying the food pantry with perishable and non-perishable items will become challenging. However, with programs like this one, we can be sure our shelves, freezers, and refrigerators stay stocked” said Allison Snell, Coordinator of Student Involvement at SUNY FMCC. “Our food pantry is supplied only from donations. Thus, this program will allow us to continue to combat food insecurity with students, faculty, and staff here at FMCC."

SUNY FMCC Raiders Relief Food Pantry is a nonprofit based in Johnstown, NY. Founded in 2018, the organization has grown rapidly. The pantry had over 2,000 visits during the Spring 2024 semester, which exceeded numbers of previous semesters, and continues to grow.

Food insecurity has become an increasing issue on college campuses and can pose a significant barrier to student success. Hunger makes it difficult to study, sleep, or engage in academics and social activities at the same level as peers. The Raiders Relief Food Pantry embodies the college's commitment to ensuring students have access to the resources they need to achieve their full potential.
