The Fulton-Montgomery Community College Cyber Range is immersive education and simulation where students and professionals will be guided through realistic breach scenarios, ensuring they have developed the knowledge and technical skills required to facilitate a proper response and recovery from enterprise-level cybersecurity incidents.
Cybersecurity certifications, a testing facility, inter-collegiate hackathons, and micro-credentials will also be what the Cyber Range is used for.
In the future the FMCC could be positioned to help local organizations develop proper actions and responses to attacks. This would provide local business personnel with a safe environment where they can develop inter-departmental procedure and policy.
At Fulton-Montgomery Community College (FMCC), we’ve always believed in the power of education — but we believe just as strongly in the power of place.
That’s why we’re building a state-of-the-art athletic field — not just for our student-athletes, but for our entire community.
This isn’t just a field. It’s a promise of access, equity, and opportunity.
A place where:
Students chase their goals — on and off the field
Local youth can play and dream
Alumni feel pride in their alma mater
Families come together to cheer, connect, and celebrate

The Foundation makes a difference for the students and their educational process.
“The Foundation makes a difference for the students and their educational process. They have supported us in every way and have made it possible for us to do what we do, which is to provide our community with excellent radiographers,”
Challenge:
When the radiology program was added to FMCC’s already successful medical professionals program in 2004, a much needed gap was filled. However, the program lacked key resources like training equipment and a proper lab, relying instead on the generosity of local clinics and hospitals where students could gain partial hands-on experience in the field.
As the years progressed and the program grew, additional needs arose, including modern technology, an expanded curriculum and general funding. The Foundation has supported three significant growth points for the radiology program as well as ongoing financial support for students when needed.
Solution:
To meet the needs of a developing program, in 2008 the Foundation spearheaded a fundraising plan to build and equip a proper laboratory for the radiology students. The building required a number of engineering specifications, including high-voltage allowances to run imaging machines and lead-lining the walls to contain radiation rays.
Additionally, the Foundation purchased an anthropomorphic phantom — a 180-pound male skeleton with tissue density to match a live human. State law does not allow for live imaging practice, so students rely on the phantom to learn the tactile skills.
Several years later, the Foundation provided funding for an expanded curriculum that allowed students to specialize in mammography. New York State requires all students to pass board exams in order to be licensed in radiology, and mammography is considered a post-primary modality or specified area of study.
Outcome:
The program’s students consistently pass their board certifications on the first try, and area hospitals and clinics praise FMCC alums for their job-ready imaging machine experience, which they gained from having an on-campus laboratory.
Many of our radiologic students enter the program with personal struggles and grave disadvantages, but they leave the program with a new sense of purpose and the skills and credentials to change their own lives and the lives of their children.
Ongoing financial support from The Foundation in the form of scholarships, assistance with field trips or the purchase of protective wear required for on-site clinical training during the pandemic, among other avenues of support, has helped students who might be left behind, stay ahead.
THANK YOU to our generous donors!
"We educate and train traditional and nontraditional students on how to take diagnostic images for radiologists in a two year program, in both didactic and clinical based areas,”
“We’re the true definition of a community-based program; we produce diagnostic radiographers who are employed at our community hospitals.”
“What the Foundation has done for the radiologic program is huge,”
“The Foundation makes a difference for the students and their educational process. They have supported us in every way and have made it possible for us to do what we do, which is to provide our community with excellent radiographers. They really affect students’ success.”
Karlyn LaBate, clinical coordinator and instructor for the Radiologic Technology program, FMCC alum, and 30-year staff veteran at St. Mary’s Hospital Amsterdam.
“We can make a difference right here at home.” - Laurence Zuckerman, CPA, MST
Challenge:
“Everyone needs money,” says FMCC Associate Professor of Business and Accounting Laurence Zuckerman. He’s spearheading the FAM Financial Technology Center project where our students can obtain a high level of financial literacy and a solid understanding of how investing works, which he believes is the key to building financial security in America regardless of a person’s earned income. A former Series 7 and Series 63 Wall Street broker, successful start-up entrepreneur and 15-year collegiate level education veteran, Zuckerman has even put his own money behind the project.
When 40% of Americans have no savings at all and universities continue to lose government funding, the chances at traditional wealth accumulation for young Americans are quickly shrinking.
Students at FMCC are a particularly vulnerable population to financial woes, be it student loan and credit card debt or future income-based challenges.
Zuckerman has created two courses to help prevent personal financial crises among our students by arming them with the knowledge and skills to achieve financial independence. Both courses, Personal Finance and Fundamentals of Investments, are elective classes so popular they consistently outsell the core classes required of students. The FAM Financial Technology Center will provide a dedicated space for this pursuit, and will ultimately meet and exceed the needs of our students at a level of excellence competitive with similar programs at respected four-year universities.
Solution:
Housed in room C123 on the first floor of O’Connell Hall, the FAM Financial Technology Center will feature a scrolling stock ticker and two large screen monitors, plus each student will have their own computer that can also be used as a trading station featuring the simulated trading software Stock Track used by top universities including Cornell, UCLA, Georgetown, Columbia and Yale, among others.
“There’s a river of wealth that runs through this country,” says Zuckerman. “Some people don’t even see it, and some people are just looking at it. At FMCC, our goal is to help students wade in it and even swim in it.” The Financial Center Classroom will greatly advance our students toward swimming in wealth.
Outcome:
The highly anticipated FAM Financial Technology Center opened September 22, 2022.
This valuable project could not have been completed without generous donors like; Fenimore Asset Management (FAM), William and Roberta Winsman, Laurence Zuckerman, John and Sunday Blackmon, and John and Diana Marshall.
“We absolutely could not do this without the Foundation,” says Zuckerman. “They have raised all of the money,” except what Zuckerman contributed himself.
``The Perrella Art Gallery has been a success for not only the campus, but the community.``
Thank you to the generous donation of the SUNY FMCC Foundation and donors Frank and Sharon Marie Perrella, a vision for a vibrant cultural space became a reality. The Perrella Art Gallery has been a success for not only the campus, but the community. A catalyst for community and culture.
Recognizing the profound impact art can have on both students and the community, the foundation played a pivotal role in establishing and sustaining the Perella Art Gallery
Prior to the foundation’s involvement, the campus lacked a dedicated space for showcasing and experiencing art. This absence hindered educational opportunities and limited community engagement. The FM Foundation stepped in to address this need, rallying support from generous donors to create a facility that would serve as a hub for artistic expression and appreciation.
Thanks to the generous donation of the FM Foundation and donors Frank and Sharon Marie Perrella, a vision for a vibrant cultural space became a reality.
The result was the Perella Art Gallery, a stunning space that not only showcases exceptional works of art but also provides a platform for educational programs, workshops, and community events. The gallery’s collection features a diverse range of pieces, challenging conventional notions of art and expanding horizons for both students and visitors.
Beyond its exhibition space, the Perella Art Gallery offers a hands-on learning experience. Students have the opportunity to participate in workshops, gain practical skills in gallery installation and curatorial design, and explore potential career paths in the arts. These experiences equip them with valuable knowledge and skills that can open doors to exciting opportunities in the cultural sector.
The FM Foundation’s investment in the Perella Art Gallery has had a far-reaching impact. It has not only enriched the campus life but has also become a cultural cornerstone for the entire community. By providing a space for dialogue, inspiration, and artistic exploration, the gallery has fostered a deeper appreciation for the arts and strengthened the bond between the institution and the people it serves.
